Art Therapy

A creative pathway to insight, awareness and self-understanding

“The whole experience was very powerful and in hindsight, cathartic for me.  I drove home that night in silence with my thoughts and was pretty emotionally exhausted - but I also drove home feeling I had an inner strength, a renewed sense of purpose and a hunger to want to show up differently for the people I love most in my life.

Rosie has this magnetism about her that draws you in.  She made me feel like I was the only person in the room, created a safe environment where I felt comfortable to share what I had painted and treated me with the utmost respect and care during the session.  I don’t think she realises how special she is or how much of an impact that experience had on me in the moment and continues to have had since.  It is something I am very grateful for.”

What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a therapeutic practice that uses creative expression such as drawing, painting, collage, or clay to explore thoughts, emotions and experiences. You don’t need to be ‘good at art’. Art therapy isn’t about artistic talent; it’s about truth and self-expression, creating space for the feelings and experiences that live inside you to be seen. It’s about freedom, not perfection.

It works, because as neuroscience tells us, creativity quiets the part of the brain that overthinks. This allows us to access layers of the mind that words alone can’t reach. Putting colour, image, or shape on a page makes space for feelings to surface safely and invites new perspectives.

Many people find it surprisingly freeing as you don’t have to talk your way through everything; your art speaks for you and shows you what you need to see.

Who I Work With

Art therapy is a powerful modality in both one-to-one and group settings. Over the years I’ve shared it with people from all walks of life, from executive teams at leadership off-sites to groups of women on international personal development retreats in Bali.

Most often I work with individuals who are looking for a safe and creative way to:

  • Navigate change and challenge: such as illness, grief, or career transitions

  • Ease stress and overwhelm: from any area of their life - work, family, relationships

  • Reconnect with self: rebuilding confidence, clarifying purpose, or identity during after difficult times

  • Find new ways of expressing feelings: especially when words don’t come easily

Art therapy is for everyone. No matter your background or life stage it’s about meeting you where you are and exploring what matters most to you.

  • Client feedback:

”The art therapy session was incredible. It’s so easy for Rosie to get you to open up in a new environment and feel safe.”

  • Client Feedback:

“It was such an eye-opening session. I’ve made my drawing my phone wallpaper so I can always remember it. Thank you so much Rosie!”

  • Client Feedback:

“I am amazed at the insights Rosie shares. What an amazing human she is!”

  • Client Feedback:

“I was so surprised by my painting, it showed me how I had go to where I am and what I value. I had no idea all of that was in there.”

FAQs

Do I need to be good at art to do art therapy?

Not at all. So many of us have been told we’re “not creative,” or we judge our own self-expression, but that’s not the truth. Art therapy isn’t about being good at art; it’s about expression and creating space for what’s within us to be seen. Every mark, colour, or image has meaning, whether it looks “good” or not. There is no right or wrong. In fact, many people are surprised by how naturally their creativity flows once they begin the process.

What can I expect in a session?

Individual sessions are 90 minutes and are held online. Often, you’ll complete a simple art therapy exercise beforehand and bring it with you. During our time together, we’ll explore what has emerged from your art and what it might mean for you. There’s never any pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with. From there, we use the insights and awareness that surface to bring clarity to what’s going on for you and to shape what meaningful next steps might look like.

Who is art therapy for?

Art therapy is for everyone. If you’re looking for a new way to explore emotions, process experiences, or reduce stress, it can be a powerful support. I typically work with:

  • Adults navigating life changes, illness, stress, or burnout; working through challenges such as low confidence, loss of purpose, or feeling stuck in old patterns

  • Young people who find it hard to put feelings into words

  • Groups in workplaces or communities wanting to build connection, expression, and wellbeing

What are the benefits?

Research shows that art-making lowers cortisol (the stress hormone), supports emotional regulation, and activates the brain’s natural reward pathways. Many people describe art therapy as freeing, calming, and even surprisingly enjoyable. Sessions can bring new insights, ease heavy feelings, and help you reconnect with yourself through creativity and play.

Whats it like to work with me?

I am a qualified art therapist, facilitator, and coach with over a decade of experience supporting people through change and challenge. I’ve also used art therapy myself during some of the most difficult times in my life, most recently while navigating breast cancer for the second time.

Through my study, my work with clients, and my own personal experience, I’ve seen time and time again the power of art therapy as a pathway to insight, change, and healing. I bring both professional training and deep compassion to my practice. Whether we’re working one-on-one or in a group, my role is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore, express, and reconnect with yourself.
